i.love.you

Yes April is the month of birthdays in our family.....my last post was from my birthday and now I'm paying my respects to my wonderful hubby whose birthday was April 11th (sorry I'm running a little late on the post). We have now both reached the quarter century mark!
I have Pinterest to thank for the cute balloon idea.....and pretty much every other creative idea I've ever tried. It was so fun to do something like this for Mark--each balloon had a slip of paper clothes-pinned to it that said something that I love about him on it. You can never tell the person you love that you love them enough! And of course we celebrated with good food and beer :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE!

confetti

Thank you all for the best birthday wishes!
I had a wonderful birthday thanks to great friends and a perfect husband!
As you can see, I was showered with flowers and great food at work. Then I came home to my husband telling me to dress up because we were going out. He took me to Roy's, a really nice Hawaiian-fushion restaurant, where we had to pretend that we were celebrating our 2 year anniversary because my suave husband accidentally checked the "anniversary" box instead of the "birthday" box when he was making our online reservations. Needless to say, we got an ear full of  "well, they say if you make it to the 2 year mark then you'll really make it." They also brought us a complimentary chocolate cake with chocolate sauce on the side of the dish, spelling out "Happy Anniversary Mark and Jackie!"
It was the most interesting birthday I have ever had :)

orange & grey

And I'm back with an outfit post as promised! These last few weeks, I have been a bit preoccupied so sorry about the lack of posts and creativity......I'm still trying but posts may be a little less often for a while so bare with me :)
On the upside, I am wearing one of my fav color combos right now, orange & grey. Love the contrast!
AND.....I am turning one quarter of a century tomorrow, yikes! Crazy how much happens in your first quarter of life! So my hubs is planning something for me but I've hijacked his facebook, phone, and email, and NOTHING......he is so sneaky! But as everyone else has reminded me, it will be much better if it is a surprise like he intended. So I must fight the urge to play detective, I guess....

etsy etsy etsy

I did it! I FINALLY started my Etsy shop for my invitations :) This is why I haven't posted in over a week....its NOT because I was busy finishing the final book of the Hunger Games and stuffing my face with rice krispie treats......
Anyway, I know I already showed you my invites not too long ago, but here is the link to my Etsy Shop so you can check it out. Get this....it's called Letters&Twine. Just had to link it to my blog because I love it so much :)
I only have the two invite sets that I showed you up so far, but I am working on some more designs and they will be up hopefully soon!
Thanks for all your support...couldn't have done it without you :)

PS>I will have outfit posts up later this week, I promise!

'50's housewife

Last night, my husband came home to me in a dress and pearls making this delicious recipe I found on Pinterest........I felt like such a Stepford wife.....and he loved it, meaning that we have come nowhere in the last 60 years. Except that now I can make him do the dishes after dinner :)
And then I wear this polka dot shirt that kinda reminds me of something they would wear in the '50's. I think I was born in the wrong decade.
Though I honestly don't know what I would do without my pizza fork....thank the lord for genius 21st century inventions!

purple power

As promised, I cleaned up a bit today and put a little more thought into my outfit. You like? I got this pretty purple skirt on sale at this new shop I discovered last weekend- Sway. Check out their website here.
When I walked in, it was like every piece was made for me :) The sales ladies were incredibly sweet too. Every time I picked up something that I liked (which was literally every 5 seconds), the lady would walk over and ask if she could take it to my dressing room for me.......it happened like 8 times. You would have thought I was wearing a tiara or something. Or maybe they looked at my weak arms and thought I couldn't manage the hangers. Either way, I came out with this purple skirt, a polka dot shirt, a black and pink dress, and an adorable peach clutch. Shopping trip=a success! (even though I came for shoes but ended up with 4 other things and no shoes).

weekend wear

So how do I look wearing the same clothes 2 days in a row, without showering?? This is what happens when you have a totally awesome night with friends for St. Patty's day, crashing a bachelor party. Yes, green beer was involved....so was midnight Korean karaoke. bEsT.nIgHt. EvEr.
I promise I will shower and wear a cuter outfit tomorrow :)

invitation intimidation

[from my own wedding; 1.5 years ago]:

[a friend's wedding; 1 month ago]:

Sorry I've been a little slow with the outfit posts this week......I HAVE been getting dressed I promise! They just haven't been very noteworthy outfits :(
On the upside, some of you were asking to see photos of some of the invites that I have done so here they are! I have done some others too but just haven't gotten around to taking photos yet.
I would L.O.V.E. feedback, pretty please!!! I am thinking about opening up an Etsy shop...comments? I'll be honest, I'm a little intimidated by the whole Etsy thing because they have such cute things on there....don't know if mine will fit in.
But I guess there is only one way to find out right?

green pants for st. patty's

I know, I am a little premature with wearing my green, but I know I am going to forget on Saturday so I thought I would make up for it today.
Wow it feels like forever since I've been on here! I had a busy weekend.....and by busy I mean that I watched like 2 entire seasons of Sex and the City in one sitting. I went out for a girls' night on Friday night and all I'll say is that I had to recoup on Saturday :)
I have also been busy finishing up the wedding invitations that I designed and printed for some friends (it's one of my new things) and now I am on to designing their programs. I think my dream job is to own my own invitation design shop. Any body already doing their dream job?? I'm green with envy right now....
Oh and don't forget to check out "GREEN" day over at EBEW!!

online vs. in-store

I never used to shop online before I started reading style blogs. I always loved going into stores and trying on a bunch of stuff that I couldn't afford--it is very therapeutic! While I still do this often, I also find myself more and more excited about online shopping. I like the ease of seeing something that I like on a blog, then finding it instantly online. The only downside is that you can't try it on before you purchase, but most shops have very accommodating return policies nowadays. Some of my recent favs online are Ruche, and Spotted Moth. I love that many of these online boutiques are both unique and affordable. I'm curious, which do you prefer, online or in-store shopping? What are some of your favorite places to shop, online or in-store?
